The Bitter Kingdom
I didn't reread the books before this one to refresh my mind, so the characters' actions in prior books were not fresh in my head. So that being said...I LOVE Belen! Actually I really enjoyed everyone. There was no stupid decision making that made me want to toss the book, no slow pace that made me yawn, it really was perfect. One scene that touched me was when Belen was gonna accompany Elisa and Hector grabs her hand and says "Don't make me watch them take you away." I just sat there for a minute. Staring at the words. Another part/quote I really like was at the end. The moment was between Elisa and her sister. Elisa has gotten dressed for the wedding then this scene happens:
"you look Beautiful,"Alodia says.
I startle at the compliment. Then I smile. "I'm beautiful to the one person who matters."
She nods. "Hector's mouth will drop open when he sees you."
"I hope so. But I meant me. I'm beautiful to me."
After I read that I got this crazy grin on my face, because those words are so important. To love thyself and be happy with us. I feel that's so important with people.
